Of course I have cried at work. Unfortunately it's my anger response.

I was really struggling not to cry when a colleague was telling me about her miscarriage. Another colleague told me afterwards that I should take acting lessons, as I wasn't showing enough sympathy.

Can't win for losing, any of us.

I hate it when women cry at work. Go to bathroom, lock your door, go sit in your car... Just don't cry in front of your coworkers. please.

Uh, I mean, it depends.

I once had an employee cry too much and I lost respect for them. They also tried using it to manipulate me into excusing their tardiness and slack work.

Once when I was having a miscarriage and the woman who had the office next door to me came in to tell me she was pregnant.

Teacher here. I cried in my AP's office so many times last year... and then at the end of the year I quit.

I would tear up for my boss when it was appropriate. My boss was female and we were kind of close at times, but she was also very manipulative and I knew when I had to feign emotion.

Another job I cried when resigning as a way to show them I cared and it wasn't personal.

At other jobs I maybe cried once or twice in the bathroom but never in front of anyone.

I have. So what? If my colleague does, I understand that people go through some serious sh:t sometimes and offer as much of an ear/empathy as possible. People are human. Let's not expect them to be anything else.

Yes, once when the co-worker was so mean to me, I literally went to my other co-worker's office and burst into tears. I quit the job shortly after because for me that was the sign that this workplace was awful. I also cried at another workplace the day before my spouse was about to have major serious surgery, I was scared to death he could die during the surgery. It was embarrassing to burst into the tears in front of the co-workers, but I was OK.

Yes, many times. The stress is real.

I cried once. I got into my very first car accident on the freeway on my drive to work. I had to pull over on the shoulder and had no clue what to do (take note: please teach your kids what to do in a car accident before they head off do college!). I got to work and the CEO walked by and asked what was wrong. I burst into tears and he was totally shocked and when he found out what happened he told me it would be okay and sent me home for the rest of the day. I was SO embarrassed.
