Can you share a link? Only data available that I can find online from Arlington magazine doesn’t have matriculation data. I am guessing that you are right that it’s depressing (and probably consistently so for all the local school districts and probably private as well).

What do you mean? It shows which HS have kids accepted at which colleges. If you're asking for something more, get over yourself.

She's asking for matriculation data as well as admission data

Unless multiple students are admitted to 20 schools, what does it matter?

It doesn't. But for some reason, OP thinks it does.

OP is asking for more than that. OP seems to be asking how many from each high school actually graduate from which universities. If she only cared about what colleges APS kids go to, the data she already has is more than sufficient.

OP needs to know how many different students applied and got accepted to the different schools. She doesn't want the same student applying to 3 ivy league schools and getting accepted by 2 of them to taint the data.
OP, schools don't have the information you want. That data relies on students to report their final college plans and pursuits to the school. Now, how many high school graduates think to do that? or care to?
The schools students are applying to and getting accepted to are all you need for your purposes. It doesn't matter how many of the students ultimately graduate from a specific college or university. You have no idea why they may not have - maybe they transferred from NOVA to Harvard or dropped out of Yale because they couldn't financially afford to finish.
You might as well contact the colleges you want your kid to apply to and ask them how many students from each APS high school they've ever received applications from and how many they ultimately admitted.

Anonymous wrote:Thanks. I will ask the schools’ counselors and see if they are willing to share any numbers. I am not, of course, interested in seeing where child X matriculated. I am only interested in understanding the reality of getting into college from APS.

The reality is that kids from APS go to college. Your kid can easily get into college from APS, assuming your kid has successfully taken the academic program colleges require.
What you're really trying to do is figure out which high school you think gives your child the best chance of getting into certain college(s).
All APS high schools have had students go on to Ivy League schools. They've also all had kids go to NOVA. I'm willing to be they've all even had someone not go at all.

Obviously posters here disagree and are asking for advice. Telling them that they shouldn't even care seems pointless and bitter. You don't care, so stop posting on this site!

What are you talking about? No one has said anything like that.

It feels as though OP really wants their kid to get into a particular college (or set of colleges) and is looking for ways to ensure it happens (or at least make it more likely). But you can't ensure that, and at the time you're looking at high schools, you have no way of knowing what colleges would be the best fit for your kid.

And she will be one of these parents fuming and stamping feet in a few years when her snowflake is deferred from said target college despite high stats.

Why is she assuming her kid will get in her (not the kids) preferred school anyway? So much can happen in the teen years. Buckle up lady.
