I agree with all of these!
My son is named Sam, that is what's on his birth certificate. People cannot get their minds around the fact that he's not a Samuel.
My sister is Amanda, she always hated Mandy but people will still call her that.
Sam is a nickname. You cannot be serious.
My DS is a "Samuel", but we've never ever called him that. To us and to everyone, he's "Sam" or "Sammy"

Love Katherine and Kate. Can’t do Katie or Kathy.
Love Charlotte, Victoria, Rebecca, just no to all nicknames.
I have two girls and this was a huge deal when naming - we needed something nickname-proof.

Same for some women, particularly in this area, who go by
“Ronny.” Have heard it several times in conversation.
Just awful. And, why??

I love the name Angie! I’ve known some great Angies.
I've only known one Angie and she was not great.

Your son’s name is like Joe or Bob.

Which is why parents should think before they name their children.
Parents do think. They just have different tastes in names. There is not actually a definitive list of "good" names. If you don't like someone's names, that's just an aesthetic preference you have that is no more valid than the preferences of someone who likes that name.
You need to learn that what you like and don't like is really only interesting to you and maybe a small group of people who value your opinion. Why should someone care more about what you think of their name, or their kid's name, than they do? That makes no sense.
And it would serve you well to follow what you preached here.
Uh... what?
You’re dense.
