So far, we've only heard from McKinley Tech. Banneker is DC's top choice, however.

Nope, there is no gpa "requirement" for either. Lot of word games and very surprising. SWW is the only one with a gpa "requirement."

McKinley actually suggests over a 3.0 and has it on their rubric.
Banneker actually suggests a 2.5....Neither is a hard requirement. Just says we can take anyone we deem is a fit.
So, a pulse then?

Had not heard from McKinley Tech re interview until this week but a few friends had interviewed early Feb.
The schools are sending interview invites in waves.
McKinley Tech pretty much takes everyone who applies.
They cannot afford to be choosy as they need to fill spots and there is limited interest in the school

I don't know much about this school. But, we applied. Do they gave a hard time filling spots. Is there good academics. It does not seem like it has a lot of stem requirements. They presented they school in a great way at the open house. Not sure about anything else.
What do you mean not a lot of STEM requirements? The kids have to pick a STEM track, do required internships, arrange paid STEM jobs, while in school, etc. it’s H.S., not college.

This actually isn't true. I teach middle school in DCPS and I have students who didn't get in.
I second this. McKinley tech gets over 1000 applications and doesn’t interview even half of those.
They have a lot of initial applicants but many of the admitted students don’t actually enroll.
Usually kids also apply to Banneker and Walls and will pick both of those schools over Mckinley.
In the summer, Mckinley will basically enroll anyone they can get
