A bed and breakfast near Giverny, France. It was beautiful during the day but the owner was super weird and as the sun set the place felt really creepy. My kids still refer to it as the "Scooby Doo place" - they were just waiting for something to jump out and for something really bad to happen. We were all glad we were only there for one night.

Pine Barrens, NJ. Rumor is NY mafia dump(ed)/dumps bodies there. Beautiful, but creepy AF....

I agree. We were just there in December and I felt like I was holding my breath the entire time. I was also uncomfortable in the town of Dachau (not just the memorial site). I do not understand how people can live so close to a place of such horror.

Hickory Hill, in Illinois.
“Once the dream home of the illegal slave trader and breeder couple John Crenshaw and Sinia Taylor and their five children.
The mansion was built in the “Pseudo-Greek revival” architecture, typical for that time. The first two floors where the family lived were decorated lavishly but the upper floor has witnessed many horror stories.
An attic consisting of 12 tiny rooms and a hallway with whipping posts meant to punish the slaves.
Auditory and tactile activity during the day like shuffling feet and whimpering cries.”

I think Charleston is spooky at night.

Also Chichen Itza in Mexico, very creepy.

I’ve never heard of Jerome and now I’m scared of the place.

We stopped at a Walmart outside Wilkes Barre, PA on a road trip in college. It was about 11pm and the empty parking lot was the creepiest place I’ve ever been. I felt like I was in a horror movie. Totally isolated and there was one random empty shopping car rolling slowly all the way across the empty lot.

Mt. Koya in Japan. It is a Buddhist monastery and there is a forest graveyard trail that is not of this world. I also had an odd synchronistic experience there. The second creepiest place I've visited is a very poor part of Appalachia. Definitely felt all alone and yet watched at the same time. I've also been to Jerome, AZ and it does feel desolate, but it was not quite as creepy as the first two.

There's a rest stop in Kutztown, Pennsylvania that gave me the creeps. I felt like I had stepped back in time. And, the people were going about their business, but I felt like I was watching a movie where everything seems normal and then something terrible suddenly happens.

Were we on the same road-trip, in the same car? Stopped on the way to Nola, driving straight through on the way to Mardi Gras, of all of the sights I saw that week, Miss. gas station pee break at 4am was by far the strangest and otherworldly experience. Many, many lifetimes ago it still sticks with me.

I’ve also had this experience, specifically in and around Jackson. We used to drive to and from Texas every year. When we had to stop and get gas my husband told me to lock the doors. The only hotel I’ve ever checked into and then left was in Jackson.

Hitler’s bunker in Belgium. It’s where he planned invasion of France. Seriously creepy vibe.
