Criticisms like urban sprawl, lacks character, etc. -- these apply to DC also, but folks here will never acknowledge it because then they'd be admitting that they're paying tons of money to live in a pretty soulless, high-crime area with terrible housing stock and schools that aren't as good as those in other areas.

Yes, Carmel is heavily white but so is Indiana -- 84.2% white based on the latest census. Oregon is more white at 86.2% if you want to point to a Democrat-controlled state that's also white.
It's a wealthy suburb of Indianapolis. It's kind of boring (I've been there), but aren't most suburbs?
How many guns and drug ods like Fairfax?
More drug overdose deaths per capita in IN than VA.

It’s a great place to live. DMV and the elitist coast do not have a monopoly on quality of life and good schools. It’s also way more affordable to live out there.

4% Hispanic, 3% Black. It sure is the American dream experience for some people.
This.
I love the Midwest, I do, but all the “10/10 schools” is such BS. There’s zero economic or racial diversity in many of these “amazing” towns.
PP from Indiana - no, it’s not diverse, but it’s also not like the deep south with confererate flags flying high. And they really are objectively great schools with tons of resources.
Republican supermajorities in the state house and senate and an abortion ban. That’s Deep South enough.
I bet you think every republican state is the Deep South
