They’re hoping for another squid game by elevating international shows that do well in their original regions.

Many middle eastern shows/movies too. Netflix is available globally (wherever there is internet access).

I just watched till death on Netflix with subtitles and it was excellent. Grade a drama. It’s Arabic though but has English subtitles

It is due to the large population in India.

Writers / actors strike so went elsewhere for content.

Plus, Netflix is global, not just US.

This is very important for you to understand, particularly regarding social media. Just so you won't post here again, saying "I can't believe all the kids are doing (insert stupid) because of Tik Tok". No, most of them aren't doing it, because their feed shows something else. Or "OMG, (insert political opponent) is dead in the water because (insert event)", when said event has been seen only by your group, because no one else cares.
