She's done great things and has been a wildly successful speaker, but she, like the rest of the gerontocracy, need to go.
Pelosi has the same advantages that Barbara Mikulski and Mitch McConnell have. In Congress, seniority has a ton of perks including committee assignments and also gaining an advantage with getting earmarks and other benefits for your local jurisdiction through political favors. So, many older legislators have an easier time getting reelected because their home districts aren't willing to give up the advantages that having a very senior Congressman/Senator representing you. Pelosi's seniority and the advantages that it brings will make it hard for anyone to replace her until she wants to leave office or leaves the same way her friend, Diane Feinstein, left.
