Pizza
Wings - just order if you can afford to buy in large quantity
Chips salsa guacamole
Potato chips onion dip
Fruit
Sharp white cheddar and crackers
Brownies with vanilla ice cream
This just seems like the most basic boring Superbowl menu.
Sounds delicious to me! Why be so nasty? What gourmet delights are you making?
Most men and children won’t appreciate your fig/brie phyllo pastry bites. I have made more sophisticated dishes to see them left forlorn on the buffet table- a lot don’t translate well when they’re not piping hot- a problem with grazers. Even women seem to ease dietary restrictions during Superbowl, but you are always going to have your carrot sticks, pineapple spear and slice of cheese nibblers-regardless of what you make. Yes, these are gross generalizations about men and women. The Superbowl is no time for posh, cocktail bites.
I never said that not boring meant fancy. And boring can taste good and still be boring. Another poster mentioned doing Philly food like cheesesteaks, hoagies and pretzels. That sounded more fun and those are certainly not gourmet foods. And other posters suggested doing something like nuggets and/or mac and cheese for the kids and gearing the rest of the food for adults. I don't see people devouring things like sharp cheddar and crackers unless there's nothing else available. And ice cream is something you have to serve right out of the freezer and can't just have sitting out. What about things like korean fried chicken, jalapeno popper garlic bread, crab rangoon dip, taquitos with an avocado dipping sauce, chicken parm sliders, loaded fries, etc?
Desserts like slutty brownies (layer of chocoloate chip cookies, layer of oreos, layer of brownies) are not hard to make and can sit out.
