Why. No one cares about the lower school. Who wants a bunch teenagers interacting with 3rd graders?
Even with a unified campus, the grades are separated by building, as is with Maret. As a parent of multiple kids, it’s easier to pick up and drop off in the same place. Some schools have inter-school shuttles, but that doesn’t help when you have to pick up at the drop of a hat
Well that will change.

I was going to post the same thing. You can’t even tell where the whistles are coming from as football players are on the end of the soccer field. It’s an accident waiting to happen

Is the ECC really a historic landmark? I’m not so sure that is true and even if it is that doesn’t mean Maret can’t file a raze permit. Historic designation doesn’t really offer protection, just an extra set of hoops to jump through. My money is still on an indoor sports complex.

It took Maret 3 years to build a field at EEC. Athletic fields normally take 10-14 weeks to design and build. This will not change things for years. If your kid is applying K I seriously doubt anything changes by the time they graduate.

I’m sure Maret is flattered by the notion, but Sidwell is not copying Maret.🙄
Sidwell had one unified campus as recently as the 1960’s. It is returning to its roots.

It’s a big site with eight buildings. Most likely have lower school(including 8th) over at this new site and high school only at Maret. This will allow them to expand each class.
This is not part of the plans as far as anyone knows. Families love that Maret is a k-12 campus. It feels very integrated and is a lovely aspect of the school that really adds to its community feel.

For years under the previous head, the notion of having even one academic offering in a different location from the current campus was tantamount to heresy. If attitudes have changed so much so quickly then that’s a pretty strong indictment of how much the previous head was holding things back.

No one knows at this time, not even Maret. My guess is they move the high school there eventually. This would make the most sense logistically, to be close to the new fields.
No the current location is near metro and will make a fairly impressive High School with renovations. It would be stupid to move the high school. High school student use the sports facilities after school and it is a short drive or buss ride to ECC. The money and prestige is at the high school level. Look at Sidwell. Most people do not even know there is a lower school or if they do where it is.
The ECC is in the middle of the wilderness much better location for lower school. The logical action would be to build out the lower school at ECC using existing buildings/grounds and renovate the current Maret grounds as an upper school. It’s should be the priority. The lower school could be moved fairly quickly depending on the building and lack of historical property.
With the opening of the new field there will be enough space to stage construction at the Maret site and still conduct school. Though it will depend on what they plan to do to the property. I don’t think the school will have problems raising the money.
it is a historical property, but likely only needs interior renovations.
