Outside of APS allocation for 6th grade is: 1 spot. You will be waitlisted for that one spot. So if you are #1 and the current person's family decides some time during the summer they won't move to Arlington after all... then you'd be in.
I think it's about as likely or unlikely as from any of the elementary schools with 2-4 spots and 15-60 kids wait listed.
More likely, they already live in Arlington, but are enrolled in private. But, yes – one spot. Our school with 3 spots never went to the waitlist last year.

Do you see your kid and the application? What does it say for the status? What date was it last updated?
DP. Here is a screen shot of ours from a few minutes ago. I don’t particularly care if my kid gets in, but am sharing it to demonstrate that the other posters aren’t making it up or incompetent.

Ironically, if I scroll down further it tells me my other child’s waitlist number for sixth grade entry at HB. For 2020-21. They’re now in 8th grade.
Ours says last updated today (1/31) so maybe they’re actively updating.
Ours doesn’t have an orange circle so maybe yours is still “in process”.

Yes it can move during the summer or after school has started. It all depends on the timing of when someone gives up their spot. My kid got into HB off the middle school waitlist after the school year started. We gladly took the spot! Good luck to everyone!

Try looking at it from a computer not on a phone, that may make the difference
It is exactly the same on my computer. No waitlist number.
