Also, is there a cutoff after which everything is set, or is it like college where it can continue to move up to the first day (or even later) of school?
Outside of APS allocation for 6th grade is: 1 spot. You will be waitlisted for that one spot. So if you are #1 and the current person's family decides some time during the summer they won't move to Arlington after all... then you'd be in.
I think it's about as likely or unlikely as from any of the elementary schools with 2-4 spots and 15-60 kids wait listed.

Thanks. My DC got waitlisted but there is no waitlist number. Does APS normally let you know where you are on the waitlist?
Yes, everyone knows their waitlist number, but remember it’s the number from your school. Even the #1 at our elem didn’t get off the waitlist last year.
Does your waitlist number tells you your OVERALL placement...or your placement by school?
We still can’t see our waitlist number. I assume it will pop up eventually.
This is a ridiculous system where some people can see their wait list numbers and others can't.
I highly suspect that user error is at play. Log in and then SCROLL DOWN.
Nope. It’s not there. Can’t scroll beyond the bottom.
Different poster. I don’t see it either. I’ve checked on desktop and phone. Definitely not user error. At best it’s an APS error. But it seems suspect to me.
Do you see your kid and the application? What does it say for the status? What date was it last updated?
DP. Here is a screen shot of ours from a few minutes ago. I don’t particularly care if my kid gets in, but am sharing it to demonstrate that the other posters aren’t making it up or incompetent.
Maybe they stopped counting after 50.![]()
Perhaps so. 😆
Ironically, if I scroll down further it tells me my other child’s waitlist number for sixth grade entry at HB. For 2020-21. They’re now in 8th grade.

Try looking at it from a computer not on a phone, that may make the difference
