That Ina pasta recipe is a favorite for me. Now that you’ve mentioned it I’m hungry for it— going to make that this weekend when we get back home. It freezes beautifully, too.

Christmas Day for us starts with a big brunch so dinner is much simpler, typically ham and sides.

We do Chinese food always for Christmas eve (and no we are not Jewish)

for Christmas day we go all out, caviar on chips for an appetizer, salad, filet Mignon, potato and either shrimp or lobster. Desserts- whatever everyone brings!

This sounds like a Christmas dinner, not a Christmas eve.

Different strokes for different folks

I think half of these menus are made up. People post what some aspirational version of themselves would be making.

You're quite ignorant. In many Catholic cultures, Christmas Eve dinner is more important than any Christmas Day meal. This is how it is in France, for example. It's called le réveillon de Noël. My relatives in France are partying it up as we speak.

Lol, ok. Why are you so triggered?

I know that Christmas Eve dinner is "important" for many. But even so, most of these menus are far beyond the kind of energy that most people have. In the DMV, at least, with so many dual-income families where both parents have high-profile careers. Oh, and we are not in France -- but perhaps you are "quite ignorant" of that?

lol I’m from Brazil and this is also how we celebrate. My friends from Mexico and Peru also do this. It’s a common thing in Latin America and the diaspora. I know people whose families came here generations ago who still keep these traditions.

Believe it or not, these traditions are pretty ubiquitous even in the United States.

Christmas Eve is always Chinese takeout in the living room while we watch Mickey’s Christmas Carol 🥰🥰
