You say he is an addict but then say it is “weird” that he can’t stop at one drink.
That is what makes someone an alcoholic (in part) —they cannot control how much they drink, despite the problems it is causing.

You should get therapy if you are at all debating leaving this guy.

You can’t do the work to fix this. I know you want to find some way to work hard and get the man you used to know back. But he broke it, he has to fix it. All you can do is take care of yourself. Separate, live apart, get a lawyer, get into individual counseling. Let him do what he needs to do without your help. He has to put in more effort than you if he really wants to fix this.

So you start living your life without him. You get the divorce decree completed. And you see how much effort he is putting into fixing things. Based on that you can decide to file or not.
