OP here. Thanks to those who kindly said no and also really appreciate the slide awareness; I have to admit (I'm sure to no one's surprise, especially those calling me worst parent of the year) that I had vaguely heard of it but didn't realize the gravity of what could happen. I am not defending myself but I do feel like this picture (#1) on Whitetail's website is pretty misleading:

I’ve noticed that tubing hills, amusement parks, water parks, etc, all have the same types of attendants - well meaning kids who may or may not be paying close attention. You really have to judge for yourself or ask around (as you have done) without relying on a 16 year old’s assessment of safety. The last time I went tubing w my kids, the teenage attendant cheerfully gave our tube a hearty kick at the top of the hill, to give us that extra burst of speed we had not asked for. We weren’t in any danger, but I screamed for real. OP, your kid has so much fun ahead of them! Keep looking for fun stuff, and keep asking others if you aren’t sure about whether it’s age appropriate.
