I tend to eat breakfast mid-morning, then lunch around 1. But often I can’t get dinner on the table until 7 due to my commute, and by the time I get home I’m famished and snacking on crap when I come in the door. Should I just push lunch later or have a snack? (I’m trying to lose about 40 pounds).

I would have a snack.

I would have a non-junk food snack, something covering fiber/fat/protein (egg on whole-wheat toast, carrots/hummus, etc.).

I usually get home around 6 but we don't have dinner until 7:30. If I was hungry when I walked in the door and waited until dinner, I'd eat everything in sight and then sleep poorly (and probably overeat, too).

I usually don’t snack between meals.

To clarify, not a junk food snack. I'm diabetic. When I have an afternoon snack it's usually protein and fruit.

Agreed. Lots of tips from people with control issues bordering on eating disorders.

It's not a tip, you do you.
