I think the two hour delay was the right call. Branches are starting to break as well. Hopefully trees defrost a bit over the next few hours.

The roads are fine. Absurd to call it now, especially for virtual school.
This. My elementary wont start until 11:30!
That’s crazy. After they feed the kids and recess they go home.
No recess on an a two hr delay

The teachers wanted to sleep in.
Hilarious that you think Central Offices cares or even knows what teachers want. Rather than eating to sleep late, teachers probably are grateful for not driving in from PG, HoCo, or AACo during an ice storm.
The comment was about virtual school. Teachers don't drive anywhere. They go to their desk or where ever they work and log on. Teachers have no say in when school time starts. So, your comment makes no sense.
No, your comment makes no sense. Where did you reference virtual? Nowhere, just another opportunity to dump on teachers.
Mcps has a virtual school. Keep up with what is going on in mcps. It haothung to do with dumping on teachers. Why should our kids be deprived of school hours unnecessarily.

Don’t virtual school teachers report to a MCPS location? I know one and she is not allowed to work from home. She said this was to ensure teachers didn’t experience internet issues or try to care for their own children while teaching.

I'm in East Montgomery Village and at 8am I have 1/2 inch icicles from all my trees and my deck and drive have a coat of ice. The street looks mostly okay - they put down a good layer of rock salt, so the only part looking icy is the middle raised part.
Since it is 8am buses will have started their routes already. Unless someone encounters a major issue, I expect there won't be a change from 2hr delay.
