Buddhist families, agnostic families, many Jewish families and some Muslim families celebrate Christmas because the recognize the tree and Santa aren’t about Jesus. It is at this point secular. It is about Capitalism, buying presents and giving presents. Most retailers rely on Christmas to keep going.
Let’s decouple Christianity and Santa and celebrate capitalism and have a holiday that brings us (the United States) together across the entire religious spectrum in the name of spending and giving.
Agree and faithful Christians know that the Christmas season is a time to recognize and celebrate the birth of our savior. Fine if you want to have a secular winter celebration, but many of us believe that Jesus is the reason for the season. We have the right to acknowledge our faith during CHRISTmas. I hope the children get to do thier performance soon without drama.

When you cancel so last minute you need to say why. Omit WHO is sick if someone is sick but jeez it is nuts to just cancel without any explanation
Fwiw- I have a kid in private. His school postponed the winter concert last minute. I haven’t heard a word from parents demanding answers. I also have a kid at an fcps elementary, but she’s too young for band— maybe I don’t know what I’m missing

Yup. And person spreading Right Wing scare propaganda to the dumb by claiming “my child said.”
"my child said"? "fake news"?
Dear Flint Hill Families,
We apologize for the extremely short notice, but we regrettably must postpone our Winter Concert for this evening.
We will send an update once we have solidified plans to reschedule in the New Year. The students should be very proud of their hard work, and we look forward to seeing them perform again soon.
Sincerely,
Flint Hill Administration

Kids were practicing for a month or so and they were so happy to sing in front of their parents. Parents got an hour before the performance a quick note from the administration without any explanation, which led to very bad gossip.
I heard the choral director and lead soprano came down with a bad case of Covid diarrhea.
You may think that you are funny. And you probably don't have a kid in school. And you are probably not Jewish so you don't need to worry that your kid will be bullied because he/she is "guilty" for canceling the concert.
