I am inspired to keep a log starting in January of all the books I read over the course of the year. I usually do the Sealy Challenge on Twitter over August which is reading one poetry book per day for the whole month, so 30 books (they don't have to be long books, they can also be very short ones) but I don't normally keep track during the rest of the year.

Audio books I think are amazing and sometimes the reader really brings them to life and "plays" all the characters so clearly, but after a certain amount of time, normally 20-30 minutes I often fall asleep and wake later having missed a ton. So that doesn't work for me as much.

I read probably 1 sometimes 2 a month.

I typically read on weekends during the day. If I'm really into a book I'll read after dinner.

My problem is that I tend to get really, really into books and devour them. Then it takes a little while to find another awesome book, and when I do I devour it. I don't like to waste time with books I'm just sort of into.

I read 4-5 books at once, and usually read every evening for an hour or so, and whenever I'm waiting to pick up dd from work. Some weekends I'll read all day.

Just counted and I'm at 73 for the year. I'm in good practice of rating each book and those I checked out and didn't like or didn't finish weren't get counted. Good exercise, OP, b/c I'm not sure I would have guessed that high.

I haven't gotten in to audiobooks and only read on the Kindle, one book at a time. I find my mind wonders when listening to something, so I really can't get into audiobooks b/c I can't make any real progress.

I usually read every morning with my coffee and always before going to bed. It's a special book that gets me to read during the weekend day and over catching up on a show, but many throughout the year do reel me in!

I just discovered that the app Libby keeps a record of all the books you take out. Of course, I didn’t finish everything I took out but I just tallied up all the digital print and audiobooks listed for 2022 and finished 46 of them. I also have a few more that I read in print or elsewhere digitally. So that’s more than I was thinking, but I’ve always been a reader, particularly of fiction. My DD is now a young adult, but I remember when she was little and wishing so much for more time to read. No I have it.

I am also listening to a lot more audiobooks, which I started getting into about five years ago. This year is the first that I actually just put them on when I’m doing laundry or cleaning, which helps me enjoy those tasks much more and has really added to the total this year.

Looks like about 27. Mostly e-book, but a couple physical ones.

I also finished two audiobooks (I listen when walking, working out on a machine, or driving more than 15 minutes). I have about two hours left on the third audiobook.

Yes this is hard for me.
I read ten books when I had the flu because I could let go of that guilt.

I’m at 45, will hit 50 by the end of the month I hope (the end is in sight on an absolute doorstop I challenged myself to at Thanksgiving…) I listen to audiobooks on my commute and have a book by my bed for before-bed reading. For trips I read on a kindle because though it’s my least favorite way to enjoy a book, I love not having the stress of worrying I will run out…

53 paper books and 6 audiobooks. I'm trying to get more into audiobooks (while I run or something) but it takes so much longer than real books.

I’m at 18 books and audiobooks plus a number of romance novels I didn’t keep track of. I’d fallen out of the habit of reading but three things brought me back: (1) I read a minimum of 5 mins a day “on the page” (ie not audiobooks); (2) I embraced audiobooks and (3) I only read things that are highly recommended- preferably by more than one person.

I’ll be at 11 books on the page and the rest are audio. I listened to both Hamilton and War and Peace this year, so there was a lot of time listening to books. I listen while I do laundry / clean the kitchen etc.

I've read 38 so far this year, expect to be 39 by year's end. The list includes mostly fiction, with a few nonfiction titles here and there--which is what I prefer to read in general. I read print and e-books, mostly at night before bed--I try to read an hour or so every few days. I've tried audiobooks, but they don't work for me... I find myself getting distracted too easily and then I find a whole bunch of time has gone by where I didn't retain any of the narrative.

Yes! I read all day at work and have so many chores to do. Audiobooks have rekindled my love of reading.

I have a log where I record the books I've read plus a sentence summary eg young women travels to Fiji to work on yacht.

I often start reading a book while listening to the audiobook version to get into it.

I always use a blank piece of paper as a bookmark and write down the characters to keep the names straight, particularly at the beginning when they throw a lot of characters at you. I call it my senior list.

I'm one of the PP that doesn't read audiobooks because they just don't work for me, but I wanted to say that I'm so happy they work for so many people. Seems like a LOT of people who wanted to read but just didn't have the time or prefer audio to visual have reconnected with reading through audiobooks. Really fantastic.

25 or 30. I have read one or two books with my eyes, and all the rest are audiobooks.
I download audiobooks from my library and listen to them while I do chores. Yard work, dinner prep, put away groceries, etc. I sew a lot and listen to audiobooks while sewing.

If I don't listen to an audiobook while doing all the mundane tedium of my life, I go nuts. I really don't need to use my brain while making a salad / mopping / washing the car, so listening to an audiobook gives my brain something enjoyable to do.
