I can’t imagine any school has messed up local traffic patterns more than DCB so there is one bright spot to it taking an extra week off.

Is it preemptive closure or is there an outbreak?

Announced a week before the break. No outbreak.

Is EL Haynes also virtual? I didn’t see anyone in the school this afternoon.

It’s performative activism. Look to KIPP or even DCPS at this point if you want to see policy made with actual low income families in mind.

How is it financially different using PTO for vacation vs. childcare?

Because you want to take your limited PTO for vacation instead of child care? Is that hard to understand? Or, as is the case for a lot of people, they use PTO to do things like doctor's appointments, not vacation.

Inspired teaching is just requiring masks for the first week and testing the first day back. Virtual is a joke I’d be pissed

I am a teacher in another school division and have to work that week so my kids will go to their old day care and probably pick up a bunch of viruses there because they will be surrounded by snotty nosed babies and toddlers. No virtual “learning” for them.
