OP you are right in asking those questions. Every parent does seek a community for their children at school. That is not too much to ask. You are not looking for friend but a community in general. Mostly children select their own friends having said that they are certain moms who still control the social life of their children even though their children dislike it. But in the end your child will find her people. I think diappointment comes to those folks who are interested in making friends with a certain group of parents. Every school has its ups and downs but trust me your child will find their friends.

lacrosse, esp. in 8th grade
STA? Have heard some of the varsity parents can be vicious. Very divisive within their grade.
Have heard or experienced? So extremely weird if you are just passing along 3rd party gossip.
