I think most people are doing this for the kids, not to impress other adults.Anonymous wrote:I agree, I dislike the inflatable yard decor for all holidays. Obviously people can do what they want, but it's very much not my thing and feels like copout to putting up real decorations. If you want my eye to be drawn directly to your house, then put some effort into a real light display or something. Blowing up a giant Santa or pumpkin or whatever in your front yard feels like the laziest possible way to scream "LOOK AT MY HOUSE WE'RE CELEBRATING THIS HOLIDAY" possible. And not aesthetically pleasing or interesting in any way.

Anonymous wrote:Surprised to see so many people saying "but the kids love them." My kid loves all manner of goofy things and it's not like she hates holiday inflatables, but she is way more wowed by Christmas lights and wreaths and bows than inflatables. There's a house in our neighborhood that has a bunch of inflatables that they change out for each holiday and the first time she sees it she's excited, like "oh there's the Turkey!" but then she gets bored with it -- "when are they going to take that Turkey down??" Whereas when people do real decorations she's much more enthusiastic and wants to go past them many times to see them.
I think maybe very little kids enjoy these but after the age of 3 or 4 they are over it.
