I am a mom of two boys (not living in DMV) and came here for fashion tips. DMV recos sound just like my area except way more joggers. Also my area is too poor for Canada Goose. Around here that brand is only for the 1% and real drug dealer/thug types.

OP, sounds like local fashion is very normcore and you only need to consider 3 stores: American Eagle, Old Navy, and Dicks. That's good because boys don't have patience to do a lot of shopping (culturally-indoctrinated values at play).

I think boys need to learn how to shop for themselves and shouldn't foist the job off onto women. So I suggest you involve him in a visit to these stores or an online shopping session.

With the ease of accessing the recommended options, this shouldn't be too hard.

His friends dress similarly.

DS is smart and athletic. I don’t think he puts much thought into his clothes. He likes to be comfortable.

This is exactly how my son dresses. He is also smart and athletic. He wears a lot of Abercrombie, Polo, Under Armor, Uniqlo, Nike. He has a Patagonia and north face jscket. He wears school t shirts and some clothes we have bought on vacation or concerts.

OP, take him to Dicks. Have him try on a bunch of stuff and pick what he wants. Buy it.

My teen DD says get him everything from Nike. Hoodies, T-shirts, joggers, socks, Jordans. Non-Nike items are Crocs, UGG Tasmans in black, and Yeezy slides. PacSun is apparently good for non-jogger pant options. Like cargo pants and jeans.

Oh, and if you want to splurge a bit, get him Stussy hoodies/Ts and Essentials hoodies.

don't buy cords or j crew, my ds will only wear collared shirts if I force him too.

or take him shopping. FWIW, my kid will not wear hoodies or joggers. only columbia fleeces, t shirts and cargo pants...

Nike actually makes nice looking cargo pants. They're expensive, but a compromise for parents who want 'real' pants and kids who wants Nike sweats.

I do agree that some kids just aren't into the athletic bottoms. My DD won't wear anything but jeans. She will wear hoodies or fleeces though. I agree with PPs that Nike is foolproof. Abercrombie sells their everyday hoodie that has no logos at all on it if you want to avoid logos.

Anonymous wrote:Hi everyone! OP again. Any updates to teen boy fashion I should know about?

I'm seeing a lot of corduroy pants...but are teen boys wearing those? Senior in high school.

TIA

Bruh.

Are you reading anything people have written?

No to rugbys, plaid, corduroys (!), dinner jackets, bow ties, Bermuda shorts, top hats...

Get him hoodies and joggers.

Yes to hoodies and joggers but also yes to flannel jacket - very in now with my son and his friends (football players / wrestlers).

Also new balance shoes are popular (coming from my son who is a die hard sneaker head).
