Macy’s is hardly flush with money these days. They are doing what they need to do to make it make financial sense.

How about if we just sit here and you cart it all past us? No, you don't need to turn around - we only need to see half of everything and about 30 seconds of the music. Thanks!"
???
The Roman's had parades

There aren’t a lot of Thanksgiving songs…
So? It doesn’t need to be about Christmas in thanksgiving. Who likes this stuff?
Everyone who isn’t a Scrouge.
What is a “Scrouge?”

Everyone who chooses to watch the parade.
We tuned in to watch a friend perform and were surprised how everything was Christmas themed (and ads). So not appropriate for Thanksgiving. Guess I am a “Scrouge” 😁!
Haha not appropriate for Thanksgiving. This is a parade created and organized by a department store chain. They want to sell merchandise.
It used to be called the Christmas Parade. Somewhere along the line they changed it. I think it's fine -- Santa at the end rings in the Christmas season. Although I don't know why other religions aren't represented too.
It's a department store parade advertising the material holiday, not the religious one. I didn't see baby Jesus in the parade.
So?
So, no actual religion is being represented, is the point. The point of the parade is to usher in the Christmas shopping season which is when department make a huge percentage of their profits for the year. I also am not clear what you you think should happen here? Are you suggesting that there should be a Menorah float and a Quran float?
No, Christmas is a christian holiday, even if many people celebrate it as simply a shopping season. I've done both. The point of the parade has always been to usher in the Christmas shopping season, but would it kill us to be more inclusive?
Macy’s wants to sell merchandise. Most of the floats have nothing to do with Christmas or Christianity- did you see the Jolly Green Giant, PAW Patrol, Blue’s Clues, etc.? Did you want Hannukah Harry on the Santa float at the end?

I laughed at this because, come on, midgets straining to wrestle Barney to the ground and kill him? It's incredible that this really happened.
but I felt sad after--as I really loved Barney and don't understand why anyone hates him.
