Except the real housewives and DCUM aren’t violent (well some housewives and DCUM posters are maybe violent). Watching trashy TV isn’t the same as playing a game fantasizing about or glorifying murder, crime, and war. The OP isn’t saying he’s playing Mario Cart.

I enjoy video games too, but when we play as a family it's Mario Kart or Minecraft, not call of duty.
