I refuse to go in them. Everyone in my circle of friends talk about how they've hooked up with people in them, so don't want to sit in someone elses fluids.

I like my hot tub all to myself. I don't invite anyone in it, bc I agree, that's gross. It's for me and my sore muscles.

I took several different women to one of those places when I was at U of Michigan. I think it was called Oasis.

We’ve had hot tubs at our homes for two decades, never have we had people over to see our new hot tub. We’ve had friends over for parties, and few have ever expressed interest in getting in the hot tub.

In the 80’s when hot tubs were all the rage, hot tub parties were a novelty. Everyone wanted in.

Anymore, people view hot tubs like jacuzzi bath tubs, a nice luxury item.

Our hot tub is a place for DH and I to relax outside on fall, winter and spring nights. We’ve had close friends join us for a soak on occasion. Our preference is “no bathing suits” as bathing suits have detergents in the fabric. We ask everyone using our hot tub to shower before getting in, for hygienic reasons. (Hence why only close friends are invited for a soak).

To each their own, tell your friend that you don’t wish to soak in their hot tub, they should understand and respect your wishes.

I find it to be a good weeding-out process for people I couldn’t care less about hanging out with. But if you’re someone I just met and you’d like my H and I to get naked and sit in the tub with you while we sip a drink, we’re cool!

When I was 30 I got invited to a party at a girls ground level rear of building apt and she had a back deck in Manhattan with a hot tub!! In Manhattan.

However a bunch of fat 50 year olds in Manassas VA in one would be disgusting.

I love showers that are hotter than the sun. But something about being completely submerged in super hot water doesn't feel right to me. I don't love hot tubs. I get too hot! And then you get out and you're cold. I also don't want to get wet at social events.

But I just can't imagine this is that big of a problem. Just say you don't want to get in? If it's a party, only a few adults can fit in there anyhow right?
