The point being that you are a classic example of what many women (probably like you) try to deny exists. And that is that women so often are the worst enemies of other women. If it "hurts" you so badly to sit and listen to these women feel good about themselves, then leave. Don't listen then go off and then denigrate them.

How does this ever come up in your life? I’m curious. How do you have a 20 year old when you are 35? That type of thing?

In my social circles no one is guessing or commenting on anyone’s age.


From my experience, people tell others what they thing they want to hear. For example, I have a coworker who is older and not particularly pretty at all, but in her mind she is a sexy hot blond. Somehow people are always giving the compliments she craves. Other more beautiful but more grounded women rarely get any compliment because people just don't think they are after that kind of fake flattery. I'm 41 and can look pretty youthful on a good photo (minus the crow's feet), but look like an old hag when I catch my reflection by mistake. It does make me sad to think that's what people see of me.


Except nobody tells me I look 30 something they act @ me like I’m 30.

This. It’s probably true that some people guess their age as younger. In general, women seem to age better than they used to, because of cosmetic procedures, healthier lifestyles, and not smoking.

Clearly you don’t really like these women. Why did you even go out with them? They’d be much better off without a person in their midst who is secretly making fun of them.

I agree with this and also what does this have to do with anything the OP said?


I’m guessing they’re trying to make the connection that those women assume getting attention is because they must look younger but it isn’t, it’s just that they’re fun and magnetic and maybe have a personality that feels young at heart.


This group of 50+ women said people regularly tell them they look to be in their 20s and 30s. Which is a totally different thing than being happy, positive, interesting people who draw others in and others want be around them.

People hear what they want to hear. I can always spot a person who is fishing for compliments, because it reeks of desperation.

Are your kids in daycare? No they are in college
I was on prednisone for a medical issue and a rumor was started at work that I was pregnant, lol pregnant.
Oh your kids play soccer what league, oh Big 10… what you have kids in college?
We were creating a team for a project, it’s a 10 year project, I said I could work on the plan but not execution because I’m retiring in 3 years when I’m 57.
I’ve had 30 year olds hit on me, I’m like dude I’m 50.

When I look at myself in the mirror, I think I look like I always have. But when I do a side by side of pictures, of course I have aged over the past 25 years. The brain is weird.

There is a study that indicates that men see women as when they first met them. So your husband you married at 28 sees you as that.
