This.

There is not one Republcian worth any true American's vote.

You are either with America the United States of America or you are with Russia & the Saudi's

There is no choices this time.

If you think there was when the rape panels, bounty hunting, and ankle bracelets start it will be MAGA first. Because we all know abstinence works LOL. Not to mention bye Social Security, by voting (no elections ever again if Republicans win in 2022 and 2024 which they will so..)

Wait, what? You know the Democrats are deep in bed with the Saudis, right? Have been forever.

DP.. I voted for some Rs locally, but above is BS. The Bushes are very close to the Saudis, and I used to be a R.

Please don't vote for Wells for Board of Education. She wants to stop CRT (which isn't taught in MCPS), and is on the Board of an anti LBGTQ+ organization. We don't need that kind of hate!

I am not sure what this CRT talking point is about. If CRT is not taught, then there is nothing to worry about?

Also, Wells is on the board of the largest Black church in the county. Nice way to frame it as an “anti LBGTQ+ organization”. Is Rivera Oven Catholic? Might be about to say that is is a member of an “anti LBGTQ+ organization”.

This is the organization she's a member of. Frame it how you want, they're a homophobic organization. I don't vote for homophobic people.

HUMAN SEXUALITY
The Bible teaches that legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, this Church opposes all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. (Rom. 1:18-32; Hebrews 13:4)

Here she is, trustee board member.

Here is our recommended ballot:https://moderatelymoco.com/moderately-moco-recommended-ballot-for-2022-general-election-page/

I would also suggest for moderates and centrists and independents to pay attention to local and state politics. We need to push for more balance and the ability to vote when it counts (in the Primary) for independents.

Thanks for posting. I don’t see your County Exec pick, unless I’m missing it. Surprised about the yes on legalizing marijuana.

Nothing “moderate” about the picks.

Someone wants to stop something that doesn’t exist — and you want someone like that to represent you, spend your tax dollars and make rational decisions? If she’s anti-CRT — and doesn’t realize that there is no CRT being taught that’s either nuts or ignorant. If she knows it’s not being taught, then that’s pandering . None of these qualities sounds like the kind of stable representation that I want.

She is the only one talking about any fiscal oversight of a $3 billion entity where no oversight currently exists. For those of us who have lived in other counties, who still have family and friends in other counties, the difference between MCPS (and honestly all of Montgomery County governance) and Frederick, Howard, Baltimore County, and Anne Arundel, is shocking. Again, for being one of the most educated counties in the nation, we sure have thrown knowledge, experience, and leadership out the window in exchange for the feel-good centering of marginalized groups. We exchange competence for empathy.

Montgomery County is falling apart and nobody seems to care as long as the facile charades of racial equity analyses say it's OK.

Moderate Democrat. At the state level, I mostly voted Democratic, but I did cast a few Republican votes and I left a few blanks. MoCo needs to be rained in. TP types are simply clueless.

I couldn't pick either for County Exec. I wrote in David Blair just for the heck of it but it's a protest write in.

I have long personally advocated for decriminalization/legalization (at least of marijuana) as one part of the solution to criminal issues. Done correctly it can undermine organized crime, make it safer and consumers know what they are getting.

I am supporting this with the assumption there will be work done in the first session to figure out how to craft the state laws around it. I hope they will do things correctly and earmark a decent bit of the money for education and infrastructure. I would rather focus our resources in jails and with officers to fight violent crime and hold violent criminals. Due to jail overcrowding with non violent low level drug offenses, these violent criminals can end up out sooner.

One other thing I hope they will address if it passes is laws that will prevent sales of edibles that look like candy and regular food. These are popular in legalized places areas and are a big issue with accidental overdoses of children getting into them and not knowing.

I'm registered as an Independent and since Maryland has closed primaries the only thing I could vote for was school board.

People were telling you for years to register as a D so you could have a vote.

Can you step back a minute and just look at that? It's really intolerant, and we are supposed to be the party of tolerance, right? Not every Democrat is a progressive, and you shouldn't just dismiss us because we don't walk lockstep with your purity test. There is no tolerance for rational diversity of thought in this county, and that is part of the reason people are voting Republican.

Totally agree. As a centrist Democrat I sometimes vote for moderate republicans (e.g., Hogan twice). It's my choice and I don't want to be told I am not a Democrat.

I wrote in Blair since I don't think elrich has been good for the County.

Same for me. Independents are not allowed to vote in primaries.

DP: That’s why I decided to register as a Democrat. I feel that it doesn’t make sense for me to give up the limited power and influence that I might have voting in the primary solely for the satisfaction of labeling myself as an “Independent “.
Given how close some major races have been, I’m comfortable with my decision.

I view a couple Montgomery County councilmembers as “dangerous,” at least in their myopic, selfish views that actually hurt constituents. Extremist views don’t belong just to the Republican Party. By mixing parties, there’s a better chance for rational compromise.

Agree with this. Especially during Covid, we saw just how dangerous one-party rule came be. It was terrible for our kids in Montgomery County. We have too many left-leaning progressive extremists and their policies are destroying Montgomery County. Really, really, really need some balance.

Ok, I have a serious question then.
-What are the tenets of the current Republican Party.

In general, I think that there is a better chance for “rational compromise “ when all parties and all Parties are comprised of rational people.
There’s nothing magic about “mixing”.
