I’m op. I never used to but started when my kids were young. They are almost grown now and I still do it. Since they grew up that way, that’s the way they like it.

Yes for British dramas, but I turn it off for comedies -- the captions get ahead of the action and spoil the jokes!

Especially shows with action sequences. I found myself adjusting the volume so much to keep up with the sound imbalance that I just started turning the captioning on.

ADHD and I hate loud noises. Sound mixing sucks in most movies. I hate playing the volume up volume down game.

Yes, stated when my kids were babies since we had a small house. I could keep the volume lower. Then when the kids were older, it was to aid them in learning to read.
Now, it's because that background music can be loud. My kids and I are all fast readers so this works well, but it drives my DH crazy when he comes into the room only to see us watching something with the volume on 2. We didn't even notice that we weren't hearing any sound.

Yes, I just like it and don't know why. The only time I turn if off is if I'm watching something that's been dubbed into English. Often the subtitles and english dialogue don't match and it's jarring.
