This is what I would really like to see too. As a parent who also works for MCPS, half days are the worst.
The half days don't benefit the kids at all but have the same fixed transportation costs. They should try to make each day count not do the minimum by finding ways to skirt state regulations.

The policy committee agreed to send all 4 scenarios to the full board to be discussed on the 25th. There was a suggestion that the 5-day weekend in February around President's Day be considered for more of the options. Perhaps in lieu of the 2-week winter break.

I agree with you completely.
I don't think they're very concerned about the needs of working parents.

+1. I was initially skeptical of starting after LD but actually like it now. Allows more continuity instead of a silly three-day weekend after the first week.

Option C is Thurs. Aug. 24, 2023 through Wed. June 12, 2024, and Option D is Mon. Aug. 28, 2023 through Fri. June 14, 2024.

Yeah a lot of families vacation that last week of summer because there are so few camps- I was actually just about to book something that week myself. They really need to announce that sort of change earlier.
I like the idea of a longer break in February over a longer break at Christmas or thanksgiving, although of those two Id prefer thanksgiving. It would give more flexibility for traveling on the relatively less busy days.

Agree. They need to have some consistency from great to year. Incredibly frustrating when it changes yearly.
It would also be helpful if they announced the calendar further in advance!

and Thursday, April 6, 2023, systemwide closure days for Montgomery County Public Schools;"
I am not sure, but I think it means that they are giving administrators those days off.
