Everyone: always use the supplementary locks/latches on hotel room doors. They're not 100% foolproof, but they're enough to send people looking for trouble to another target. There's no excuse for this thug's behavior (and yeah, I'm willing to call rapists "thugs"), but we have to live in the world as it is, not as it should be.

Bad guys can also drive, take the bus, uber, or walk OP.

You remind me of my DH who thinks we don't have to lock the front door because we live in a nice neighborhood. Like bad guys don't know how to drive to our neighborhood.

If you can do basic math, you can figure out that the crime rate increased. There aren't 58% more people in that area since the metro opened.

The main reason that business owners like Metro is that it provides more easily accessible government subsidized transportation for the minimum wage workers in the area.

It's about criminals using metro to come into VA commit crimes and then go back home to DC or MD. They come over for various crimes.

Obviously this guy is bad, but the previous arrest is for shoplifitng. AFAIK, no one gets serious jail time for shoplifting.

Also chiming in to say that’s a myth and has been discussed on DCUM before. However it’s true the NIMBYs in their McMansions blocked the Wolftrap metro station, which would have been so awesome for the region. Metro’s internal maps show a planned station there. I worked on Silver Line Phase 1 and know this to be true.
