Carrie has daddy issues—that’s why she ended up with Big. Big got old and tired—that’s why he settled down. Not a great love story—but not entirely unbelievable.

Aidan was great, but she was too messed up to be in a healthy relationship. I hated the movies—especially the second one. Aidan wouldn’t have cheated with her. So annoying.

I’m not knocking cosmos! I was newly 21 when the show started, and I felt very grown up ordering cosmos at bars, having my first apartment, and paying for HBO

+1. Literal propaganda, down the rigged awards it won to give it more credibility. All a con on viewers who are still too simple to realize they were being brainwashed. Still worshiping a show that was programming them to abandon their families and become childfree worker-bee rootless cosmopolitans. Sleeping around, $3,000+ month rent, designer shoes, brunch, and an email job! And spending holidays with spinster friends because your family is 1,000 miles away and you have no husband and no children. What a life!


In other words, great entertainment. That's why they still show the old shows -- people still watch it. It's TV after all. A show about a regular happy family doesn't make for interesting watching.

This has brought back so many great memories for me. My roommates and I used to watch together, and at one point we went to a nearby bar that served cosmos during each week’s new episode.

I could never understand why she was so afraid of her relationship with Aidan. I don’t know if he was the perfect man for her, but he was sure a better match than Big!

I have a friend who was dating a man like Aidan, and she pulled a Carrie and had to split. I think it’s deep rooted insecurity. Carrie too always seemed to toe the line of insecurity, even though she was so bold and eccentric on the outside.


Carrie never wanted to be normal, and she didn't want to be in a relationship where she might be challenged to examine herself or her motivations, or her true desires. That's why her relationship with Big was perfect. It was showy, surface in a lot of ways. Neither one of them had to change or grow.

Nails have been a thing in NYC and surrounding areas for a LONG time, much moreso than other places. There will be salons on every block and it's been this way since I was growing up there in the 90s. Weekly manicures were the default, for some starting in middle school. I remember being about 14 and making a friend at camp who said they had never had their nails professionally done and was :SHOOK: that's how common it was and is, at the very least for events.

It’s not deep rooted insecurity. Carrie was attracted to Aiden primarily because of his stability. What did they actually have in common?

They had nothing in common. She hated anything he liked and lied about herself like half a dozen times on their first date.


Agreed. They had nothing in common. He was like Skipper in the first season. Checked a lot of boxes and was the nice guy but just not the right fit. I'm glad they didn't end up together


Me too, I never bought them as a couple.
