She is a legitimately lovely person, who I don’t think was savvy enough to predict all the dynamics of running for SB here. I am not friends with her, but my interactions with her make it so I think being in the SB morass would have really upset her. L

Maybe she should have courted the private school parents like Baird apparently did.

I understand all that but she was willing to speak against Hutchings / status quo administration (although she may have been tainted by being so active in openacps). But you are right that she campaigned as a public school advocate which does not really focus on the private school parent vote.

But there is no way that her friends at PTAC tried to damage her candidacy. Why she lost isn't that difficult to figure out if you can look at it objectively.

She just wasn't a good candidate with the rambling website, constant promotion of her family and vendors. She also wasn't a good loser either. No update of the website, no thank you to supporters, no call to action after she lost. She posted something completely out of touch when that ACHS student was stabbed at Bradlee and also didn't care about how parents were kept in the dark about the apparent gang rape (so Alderton described it) in the Minnie Howard bathroom.

Baird's website (before she scrubbed it) was professional and to the point. Clearly she was right to court the private school vote, support, donations. She was articulate.

Ignacio had a base from her time in ACPS and she hustled. She had a new endorsement every day.

Booz was on the school board before. Never did or accomplished anything. If you are unhappy with the state of the schools, you can place some blame with Booz.

It is pretty ironic, and funny, that she had a lot of support from the OpenACPS crowd since she works for the NEA and (love them or hate them) they worked hard to keep schools closed.

There was a very strong clique at our school that went through a schism over open schools, and it seems to not have recovered. The dethroned regime seems to have tried to get it back together; but the fall campaign struggles seem to indicate it is a mere shadow of its former self.

Things are so tame now. When we first started at our ES, used to hear about the mom who would strip down after the annual school fundraiser and streak at the school.

While PTAC is a nasty clique, I don't think they kept people from being elected. Ignacios' campaign treasurer was treasurer of PTAC at the same time so they do like to play favorites. But I think that Alexandrians, in general, like the status quo, the ACPS establishment and they love the political patriarchy.

That's pretty clear if you look at who is elected. It made be hard to accept but people are generally fine with the state of the city including the schools.

Can the ACPS school board posters go to one of the several threads on that specific topic? And stop derailing this one which is about some secret clique.

I already recognize two people mentioned on here and I am dying laughing. BTW there was a corn hole tournament around the corner from me two weeks ago (but it was just for dads).
