This. I swear people fall for the Fox News crap way too easily. “Sanctuary city declares emergency over illegals!” Yes, yes indeed. So they can procure resources to help them without a 2-year bidding process. NY has been welcoming the stranger since 1800. It’s part of what makes New York great.
Can’t say the same for some hick desert town in Texas. The migrants may not be educated or sophisticated but they know better than to stay around the type of people that hunt them for sport and praise God on Sundays.

I don't see Desantis or Abbott sending them to MT, ND, SD, WY.
Those are places that actually need workers, but the residents aren't interested. Whoops.

because a bunch were dumped on them by another state who had no authority to do that. Those governors lied to the people and were basically human traffickers for a political stunt.
But weren’t those unlawful immigrants dumped in those other states by a federal govt that isn’t enforcing security at the border because doing so is unpopular with the political class in those states now doing the complaining?
So you think small, under resourced towns in rural Texas should absorb the massive costs of dealing with a huge influx of people who shouldn’t be here, but draw the line when a few hundred show up in NYC?
Seriously- how do you defend that?
I'm not defending anything, but last I checked TX, FL, and NY are part of the US, and the federal government has the authority to deal with illegal immigrants, not a governor who is looking to score political points and looking to run for POTUS in two years.
Also, Desantis had ZERO authority to ship illegal immigrants from TX, a state he has ZERO jurisdiction in. So again, he's basically a human trafficker. We should put him in prison.
Yes, the federal government has the authority.... but when the federal government shirks that authority, the states most heavily impacted need to take action.
And, are you equally as outraged about the mayor of El Paso (D) busing migrants to NYC?
DeSantis should be awarded a medal for what he did. The Democrats are FINALLY talking about the crisis at the border. That is a miracle.
No it’s not up to the states. Sorry not how it works. When Texas leaves can you join them?
Answer the question: Are you equally as outraged about the mayor of El Paso (D) busing migrants to NYC?
I do not care. It’s all a stupid political stunts. This is just a made up issue by the right wing media because they do not want to talk about Trump. Answer my question will you migrate to Texas when Texas leave the US?
It's not a stunt for El Paso. This is a city of 680,000 that is receiving 2000 migrants a day, nearly 15,000 a week. NYC is more than ten times bigger and says it can't handle less than 15,000 migrants over several months. How could El Paso possibly deal with that kind of migrant volume?
+1 Truth is these other posters don't care until it affects them. It's not fair to expect cities to absorb all these immigrants.

Are those states sanctuaries? Best to give them the opportunity to go somewhere they are wanted and safe.

So, what about the states that get them at the first place? Are they supposed to just keep them?
Yep. People like the PP don't care. Doesn't impact their daily lives or their schools and communities. They mock and deride those who are frustrated.

Anonymous wrote:I think it’s wonderful for the immigrants. New York is a sanctuary city so apparently is equipped to handle them, its the biggest city for jobs in the country, it’s already diverse with many languages. I’ve been to El Paso and it’s…not New York City. If I was looking to get into a country illegally and the borders were open and they offered to drive me to the equivalent of NYC yup that’s where I’d go!
