Why would you bring your dog to the grocery store unless it’s a service dog? It makes NO sense and is gross…I don’t want your animal around food I might buy (or around me and my kids: my daughter is terrified of dogs, after having been bitten once and if she was w me in a store and saw a dog she’d freak out and we’d probably leave).

After this thread yesterday I called my local Costco today, and they do allow dogs. So yes, I can and I will.


But why?


NP and I also asked ne of the workers that I’m friendly with, because I see her so much. Basically, she said they don’t want the trouble and hassle since so many people claim their dogs and pets are service animals. I’m the one who saw a woman with a guinea pig in that front basket.


Guess it’s time for those of us who don’t want dogs where we shop for food to start speaking up…

My local coffee shop is full of dogs all of a sudden. So sick of it. One of them was barking repeatedly (including barking AT a someone else’s service dog). Feel like reporting it.

A friend of mine worked at a retail store (not Costco) and was bitten by a dog in the store while she was walking by showing another customer an item. She needed stitches. And the nutty lady threatened to sue her because it got reported (I guess the dog had a history).

My friend's leg easily could have been a child's face. And I find the people who insist on bringing their dogs everywhere often have the worst behaved dogs.

I call BS.

It is against FEDERAL LAW to have live animals on the premise wherever food is sold. There are minor exceptions for things like fish tanks besides service dogs.

Technically, coffee shops and all restaurants are not allowed to let dogs into their establishments because they are selling food. Dogs are absolutely not allowed in grocery stores, period. What Costco said yes? I would like to know so that I can lodge a complaint that that Costco is violating federal law.

It's not just Costco, although I haven't seen them at the Sterling Costco. I don't go to the mall, but I've seen dogs at pretty much any of the shopping center or stand alone stores, including grocery.
