I'm very similar OP. Interestingly, the girlfriends in my life are always similar - people without best, super close girlfriends. They also all typical work, and they have what i consider best friend/ partnership marriages. That describes me. I really don't have that much time for a relationship that is more involved than DH, even the idea of a super close GF appeals to me.

Sometimes i see women with really close girlfriends. They typically don't work, or have what i consider a "lower key" job with a lot of flexibility and less hours. Not only do they have more time to invest in female friends, that time doesn't take away from marriage/family time. Also, my anecdotal experience is these people have different types of marriages - maybe strong partnerships, but probably not best friends with their spouses.
