This is good to hear. Our 2nd grader had 29 kids in her Hearst class. We left after that year. It also was the first Covid year.

Leaving Hearst was brilliant. Our kid had basically no teachers in 4th and this year they aren’t even doing the fun 5th grade things like the Embassy program. My kid is so bummed after watching their sibling have such a great experience.

Both my kids have 19 in their classes at Hyde. It’s great.

Don’t quote me (ha, ha! Who would quote an anonymous DCUM comment?!), but Murch enrollment today is higher than its ever been (or at least since the recent peak right before the move to trailers) and is expected to keep growing throughout the year. Kindergarten and First grade classes are unusually big. The good news is that renovation created 5 classrooms for every grade, so Murch could add another classroom. The stumbling blocks are finding personnel/teachers and getting the additional budget from Central for the additional staff.

My kids have gone through Murch since before the reno and their classes were always around 22. For years, the rule of thumb for HSA fliers was to make 25 copies for every class, knowing there would be enough for everyone with a few extras.

We had 18 to 38 at Janney (the 38 was a failed experiment the school did one year: 38 kids, 2 teachers = one chaotic class.
Then we had 15-32 at Deal.

My kids are now in private high school and class sizes are mostly 12. It honestly took them a year to get used to the attention and the quiet.
