But that's so much a result of his crazy upbringing with a highly dysfunctional parent, you can't see how him irrationally punishing his best friend ties into his crappy upbringing?

He's a messed up individual who has no idea how to have a healthy relationship with a female or a best friend.

I think I've just watched what will be the jump the shark episode. The murder intrigue and punishing his BF for sleeping with a girl he didn't know yet ... going from fun college trashy to not fun trying to be too serious.

+1 She really nailed it, and the actors who played her kids did too (the tension of walking on eggshells). That part was well done.
