IDK, I usually stick around Georgetown, Foggy Bottom/West End, Dupont and 14th st. If we end up going out somewhere different like Union Market, we drive. I didn't notice much difference in the areas I listed

One of THREE shootings on H Street NE this weekend, two of which occurred in broad daylight. Incredibly depressing (I live in the neighborhood). I hope Robinson is okay and I also hope his high profile draws the needed attention to this problem. This is not okay.

Everyone in the neighborhood needs to email Charles Allen. He’s head of the Judiciary Committee and he’s constantly making things worse. He needs to hear from constituents that real steps need to be taken to address violent crime in the neighborhood (not his bullsh*t violence interruptors that don’t work).

DC needs to deal with the crime problem soon because WFH is going to make things so much worse. It’s coming, like a tidal wave on the horizon.

Are you saying that crime has gotten more flagrant because suburbanites don't have to come into DC and there is no need to protect them-- or anyone else?

The other problems: Carjackings, petty thefts, homeless encampments, open drug use can be dealt with by updating the criminal code or changing political leadership. They are ephemeral. WFH is a permanent, existential problem. No matter how bad things got in 1980s and 1990s, DC could always count on the daily commuters and a steady influx of young people relocating to DC for work. Now DC will have to figure out how to get by without them. Because this is the new normal and they’re not coming back. DC will have to make itself a nice city to live in for its own sake.

Most of you voted for this. You elected the people that allowed this to happen. You should be required to stay here until you vote differently.

I don’t even live in your neighborhood and I just emailed. Everybody who gives a crap about the district should be making a big deal about it. Our leadership is crap.

Thanks for posting his contact info.

They ride those ATVs en masse in Baltimore too. That's not just a DC thing.

There should be a hefty penalty for driving loud ATV, motorcycles and cars, either in form of social service or money.

There should be dedicated walls for graffiti, shouldn't be allowed anywhere at a random person's impromptu impulsive choice.

There should be marked non residential areas and limited hours for dirt bikes for a license fee, just like other vehicles and other drivers.

What else do you call it? Carjackings, dirt bike riding, so. many. shootings....it is chaos in DC. Looks like anarchy to me. Yes, a lot of these shooting are revenge shootings. When people exact frontier justice on the streets, it is anarchy.

Sounds like a gang problem. Do we still have a gang task force in DC?

After many years ATV culture is finally getting recognized as local DC cultural heritage, so please don't simply conflate it with common criminal behavior.

Can't tell if serious?

If thugs on ATVs terrorizing communities constitutes "culture," then DC's future is bleak.

It's probably like other street art such as graffiti that first was widely criminalized but now can fetch millions at art auctions.

By this logic, DC is a priceless museum.

Its nobody's culture to be rude, insensitive and disrespectful of their neighbors. Don't try to normalize it or making it a race issue.
