Anonymous wrote:I’m in the SF Bay Area and masking is still big here. Local mandates pop up when the numbers go up, but I don’t think we’ve had one in our county for a while. It’s up to individual businesses if they want to require them, and many still do. A lot of people are still in the habit of masking. In general, the case numbers are low and the vaccination rate is high here. Most people follow the rules and then maybe even take it a step further with masking.
It’s anecdotal, but most people I see wear KN95s or KF94s, then surgical masks, then a few cloth. I think it was hard for people to feel comfortable with the waste of disposable masks when we had reusable masks. Now that studies show they’re much more effective, and they’re easy to find, so most people here have made the switch and still keep one handy in case they need it. Of course, local businesses that require them have extras for customers who didn’t bring one with them.
