The youngest kids (not mine) are preschool age and need some supervision in the mornings. Not cool!
I agree that the parents of the pre-school aged kids need to step up here. It’s not your responsibility to take care of their kids in the morning. But I would not care what the parents of late ES aged kids and older did because those kids are capable of getting themself some cereal and chilling. And let’s be real, those kids are probably still sleeping or on screens in their rooms.
I also wonder if the poster who started this side conversation has younger kids and is a little miffed that she can’t just sleep in like the parents of the 8 and 10 year old.

I'm a natural early riser (always have been) so it's not like I'm dragging myself out of bed to be on kid duty. I love the idea of sleeping in on vacation but my body just doesn't do that!
As for what I did that AM, I sent the preschoolers to wake each set of parents and when the first adult finally stumbled into the common area, I was off on my run. I waited for an adult because the house had a non-childproof pool so I wasn't going to leave unattended preschoolers.

Do you hate your nieces/nephews? Your SIL?
Agree. If you are up already?
Nephews are 8 & 10 and bowls and cereal are on the counter. Milk is in the fridge. They are perfectly capable of getting it themselves.
Then why didn’t you tell them the cereal is in the second cupboard and milk is in the fridge and help yourselves? Hmm? They likely know they are perfectly capable but were seeking permission from an adult to get food. You’re pretty awful.

As a parent I would not think that I need to wake up with my 10 year old 5th graders. I also wouldn’t expect that their aunt wouldn’t tell them where the cereal was if they asked. You need to stop vacationing with your extended family.
Seriously. These kids are in a house not their own, politely asking about cereal, and their miserable aunt is being a jerk. Poor kids. This is probably one of those deranged posters with a baby who thinks everyone must bend over backwards to let the precious new parents sleep because they are the only ones to ever had a baby and they are so very tired. But then think nothing of letting other people get their sleep. Why is PP even up so early?
Get a grip, this is the "petty vent" thread. If you have no sense of humor, find another thread. All my nephews need to do is walk in the kitchen to see the boxes of cereal on the counter. They are asking me to get up and fix them cereal. I directed them to the kitchen or to go find their parent. It is 11:00a and SIL and BIL still sleeping...
