Subject: Has your school announced its BTSN date yet?
Everyone I know who doesn’t have a K’er has said if a virtual and in person option are given they are doing virtual. BTSN in person is a waste of time, particularly at the MS/HS level where your just moving around a bunch in crowded hallways and getting short presentations.
If you want to see the school and talk to teachers go to Open House, schedule conferences, and volunteer.

Why thank god? What a waste of everyone’s time. Covid brought to light some good things virtual can provide and that includes back to school night and parent teacher conferences.
+1. Yes, tell us why thank god? Ours has announced the date and that it will be in-person. I do hope they change it to virtual. No need for it to be in-person.
Why thank god? Because I want to actually meet my kids' teachers and see the other parents. I want to interact with human beings in-person, at least for things that are important to me, as this is.
Virtual just means more tech issues, more people with their cameras off, or someone screaming in the background, or being distracted because it's dinner/bath/bedtime and parents can't do multiple things at once. Videoconferencing is useful for many things. Group gatherings is, IMO, not one of them. Virtual BTSN is an utter waste of time.
Why do you care if other parents have their cameras off? For ES, these are probably your neighbors. You know what they look like.
Is your child’s school your only source of interaction with other people?

I love being able to see what my ES kid’s classroom looks like. I love being able to see where she sits. It’s nice to see what the MS and HS look like. And most importantly, to meet the teacher and other parents IN PERSON.
No good reason to make BTS night virtual this year. Our turnout last year for Virtual was abysmal.
+1. This. I want in person with the option of virtual for parents who cannot make it.

In-person BTSN is a waste of time for everyone involved. Period. Sorry you need to see the faces of other kids parents to feel comfortable? Sounds like a personal problem.

I am coming to the conclusion that the people who want In person BTSN have elementary kids. With the exception of that 1 poster, does any MS and definitely any HS parent want in person?
I have elementary and high school and I want virtual for both. Fighting for parking or sit at home and do the same exact thing virtually? The teachers do a great job of photographing the classroom if you’re so concerned about that (seems absurd to me).
I have ES and HS and I want in-person. What HS teacher ‘photographs the classroom’?
They have BTSN presentations… they take pics of the classroom (sans kids) are you new here or just willfully obtuse?
Why do you need to see 7/8 high school classrooms? What do you do 2nd semester when they change schedules and you can’t see those classrooms?
?? That’s the entire point. Parents don’t need to see this. Teachers do it bc they have to. This thread has become a full circle.
