We had a great experience at Kilmer. Better than elementary. The teachers and teams were very attentive. I don't know about the principals. You don't see them that much as a parent.

Worried sick over this announcement. And I am worried KMS is not setting up my DD for success this coming year. She's prone to social drama and I am worried sick about the girl drama of MS. We didn't have a great time with her older sister meeting new friends at KMS.
It is not the school’s job to parent your child.
In all fairness, it is the school's job to enforce discipline and some schools don't do this well. Not saying girl drama usually rises to that level, but it could in some instances. Did FCPS finally put monitors in the hallways of all middle and high schools?

Maybe don't put all the pressure on schools to teach your children how to avoid social drama and peer pressure?![]()
Ugh, another entitled FCPS parent.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:KMS parent.
First, she was not a wonderful principal. My student said she was never around (in the halls) and it took her until the middle of this year to identify her as the principal. My child knows all of the other APs.
The school academically is not well run and as principal it falls on her shoulders. Principal of the year at an ES just means she makes friends with Gatehouse and the PTA.
Finally, this is all on FCPS. You cannot allow this type of transition weeks out from the school year start. Principals should announce their leave at winter break and ride out the year.
Another KMS parent here. I don't know which team your DD is with, my DS knew Amy Miller from the start, as well as all of the APs. Academics are well-run, many in-depth discussions, good assignments, and they work hard to make kids feel included.
In math and science all of the 8th grade AAP classes were one quarter behind at the start of the 4th quarter. They were finishing up 2nd quarter units at the end of the 3rd quarter.
And? Did it set them back from being admitted to Ivy League schools?
Nice attitude. I hope you're not my kid's teacher.
