No matter how much you want it to be true, school is not daycare. Teachers are not daycare providers. You chose to have kids. You choose to work. It is 100% on you to figure this out.


I make it work, but i still think longer breaks instead of random days would be a better way to organize the calendar.


For working parents sure, but not for learning. There is so much summer slide and the longer the summer break, the worse that is.

As a teacher I prefer as many 5 day weeks as possible.

The one that’s frustrating is Halloween weekend. And then Election Day Wednesday. What happened to the 4 day teacher work day to do conferences? We do some Halloween and some the next week on a Wednesday? So weird.

That 4 day weekend has been around forever.

It's bowing to individualized wishes with this schedule. I give a sh-- about any of these holidays. I wish you well. Take the day off if you must and catch up like everyone else does when they are out. Why do my kids need a day off b/c you celebrate (insert holiday)? And end up having to end school a few weeks before July 4 because of it?

Anyone who sees nothing wrong with the upcoming calendar has tremendous issues of laziness. You won't convince me otherwise.

I don't understand who likes them. Do they not care about their kids learning? About them following a routine that is remotely rigorous? School is a joke in this country and if you don't know it, you really should.


If you child falls apart after a few 3-day weekends, you’ve got bigger issues. Breaks are healthy for both children and adults.
If school is such a joke, why don’t you move overseas or homeschool? Clearly, it’s very important to you.

One problem I have with all the random days off is if your child is scheduled to receive therapy or services from FCPS, they get canceled all the time. I had a child in speech every other Friday, and he rarely met with the ST even once a month. Once he went several months without seeing her at all. They don't make up time.

Thing is social media like this has started to influence elections. Like the threads started about masking off ramps that helped Youngkin get elected.
People can still be reminded on here that government isn’t about just you.
