Anonymous wrote:I don’t think teacher shortages are an issue as in one meeting they said most will return. We only know of one teacher not returning which is a shame as they were fantastic. There will be VA and it would be nice if previous poster would stop spreading lies. They are working on numbers and schedules now. They are short staffed but because of funding not willingness to work at the school. They have said they will try to take as many students as they can. They are funded for the next few years.
It’s probably a combination of issues from office staff as they don’t have enough to not knowing who is returning or not as some families are waiting to hear how mcps is handling Covid.
Last year most of us did not hear till mid or late August but they were still trying to get things sorted out. Some did not hear till September. Wait till early August.
I would call or email them to confirm your application. If there is a medical or other reason submit documentation. Or, resubmit your application.
It’s best if it were not discussed here due to the negativity. There are a few Facebook groups that you can join that might be more helpful.

“Some on DCUM say” is irrelevant. Those are in person parents angry that their precious snowflakes have to share resources and money with the VA kids. Too bad.
Actually the home schools are getting the student funding and don’t provide anything and virtual academy is funded through other resources which is why they are short staffed and not equal to an in person school. There are no staffing shortages, just not enough funded slots for more staff.

But why are they funding homeschool for kids who attend VA? Wouldn't it be prudent to not ask people to enroll in homeschool if they apply to VA? What kind of crazy stuff is going on at MCPS now a days?
“Home school” here = the school you’re zoned for. Totally different from “homeschooling” (parents teaching their own kids), which MCPS does not fund.
Again for VA students (who are virtual) why are they funding Home school (according to PP)?
Why are you asking? All the information is online and on the boe meetings. Are you planning to send your kids?
Why do you post like a paid PR to create traffic on website? Why don't you just stay away from this thread and let other parents help each other?
Anwser the question? Nice deflecting. You clearly aren’t paying attention to what I’d going on nor willing to put any effort do what is your real agenda?
What is going on.
This is a good example of paid PR online bullying parents and distract them from discussing important topics. Just ignore.
