Be prepared to put in several offers and have an escalation clause. The upside is the houses are cheaper than in DC, but the downside is that the property taxes and the electricity is higher (go solar if you can).Anonymous wrote:What town would you recommend around the Hartford area? Connecticut has had the tightest real estate inventory in the country for years, so that is complete BS.
Has the hosing stock always looked as run down as it currently looks? Lots of expensive outdated stock with questionable utilities.
+100 All you "Go CT" people need to post some nice homes here.

Anonymous wrote:Thanks for the input on towns to consider close to Hartford. We are looking at houses in all of those except Newington (nothing there seems to meet our criteria). Leaning towards West Hartford/Glastonbury/South Windsor.

Lived in CT in the 90s. Can't imagine living in the "port".
LOL. Spoken like a true CT snob! Black Rock is priced like Bridgeport but geographically more like Fairfield. By the Fairfield Metro train station. Nice restaurants/cafes and lovely water views. Would not move there if I needed schools but if you want interesting/scenic and good value with reasonable NYC access it’s worth investigating.
