I think long fingernails are very feminine and attractive on women. But I also appreciate women going to the extra level to look nice. All the makeup add-ons don't bother me at all and actually find it alluring because it's so rare these days. And I also know women who maintain long nails can be clean and hygienic and meticulous in their care so all the disparaging remarks are not necessary. I think women who complain about other women who like to like to glam up are just lazy and don't want to put in the effort.

Most women I know do things because it makes them happy. Men don’t figure any where as a reason for their choices. These posts asking men whether they like it if women do this or that, is outright demeaning to women. I don’t do anything to please my dh. I do things for him out of love and concern for his well-being, like cooking healthy, exercising with him etc. But my choice of clothing, makeup, nails has nothing to do with pleasing ANY man. If dh likes it, it’s a bonus.

It’s one of those things that was intended to be a status marker and attractive for that reason - think, look at me, I don’t have to work with my hands so I can have these ridiculous nails- but inevitably it just became seen as unhygienic, needlessly crippling in a culture that values DIY and relies primarily on typing for communication, and lower class.

I think it's fun and sexy when my GF experiments with different looks, hair styles or color, or nails. I do her toe nails for her and she makes such a big deal about it. Fake nails are fine if they are maintained, and they take a lot of maintenance.

I have no nail length preference. But I will say that women that do their nails tend to be above average in looks because they usually take care of themselves and are more stylish….on average.

More likely the not that OP is above average in attractiveness.

Whatever nails you got didn't cause you 15 years worth of damage. your nails grow like hair. If it took 15 years to grow out a new cycle of nails you should really post in the Health section and go see a doctor.
