Great name. DCUM is so weird and conservative on names.
There's a natural bias on here against anything perceived as a non-traditional name because people on the forum can be split into traditionalists and non-traditionalist.
Traditionalists HATE every name that isn't within their set of acceptable names. Thus you get the people in this thread who are like "It's a cow's name", "it's a puppy name", "I could never respect a grown woman named Daisy." They are unimaginative people. They are actively fearful of something different. So they respond with nastiness to anything that feels different.
But non-traditionalists don't hate traditional names, they just find them boring. So they'll respond to a thread about Elizabeth and say "it's pretty, but so common." Still a criticism, but so much milder and more of a "if this is what you want, at least it's a pretty name" response. The most forceful this group gets is when someone suggests a more popular name, and then they will sometimes get a little nasty about this "Oh my god, ANOTHER Sophia?" But the criticism isn't really on the name, it's on the choice to use a more popular name.
As a result, even though lots of PPs have said they like or even love this name, the traditionalists are going to pan it aggressively. I mean, page 1 of this thread is almost entirely people saying "No just name her Margaret." Because Margaret is a traditional name and they consider Daisy to be a nickname, and deviating from that is transgressive and bad.
If I am OP, I'm automatically dismissing anyone who's like "it's not a real name" or "it's a cow's name" because these people aren't actually responding to the name itself but the perception that it deviates from what you are "supposed" to do when you name your child. I have not time for people like that.
