Yes, it appears Elrich vs Blair will be close.

Another reason to vote for Riemer is if you want continued Takoma Park control over county government but want to feel superior than voting Elrich.

Everything Riemer claims as a top priority has gotten worse since he’s been in office, especially housing. He talks a lot and says a lot of nice sounding things but he’s been an abysmal failure as a legislator.

“Says nice things?” He speaks so inarticulately that all of his campaign speeches are some form of “c’mon guys”.

Fair point. New poll has Riemer in an even more distant third.

It really is a two-way race between Blair and Elrich.

Jeebus. At least he’s now leading “undecided” but the idea that he thought undecided would break for him is honkers. People in Montgomery County hate negative campaigns. They’ve never worked in the 2 decades that I’ve lived here. Riemer is an idiot thinking that he would win going negative. What’s more and as many people have pointed out, he went negative because he couldn’t run on his record. Good riddance.

Riemer’s unfavorables doubled, and you’re right that it’s probably because of his negativity.

I like Elrich as a person (I've met him) but I thikn he's a horrible manager. His previous non-political experience was as a schoolteacher. Then 20 years on the county council until he got term-limited out. During that time, he never made president of the council -- shows what his peers thought of him. So if you like the way the county has gone the last 24 years, you should probably vote Elrich.

He's great at always blaming everyone else -- the governor, the council, the president .. you name it.. for any issue. He's never a "buck stops here" kind of guy.

Here you can see Elrich taking credit yesterday for a project he voted against while on the Council:

I voted Blair.

This is a fascinating poll. The one they released July 7 had Elrich blowing Blair away. With a 20+ point lead. If they used the same methodology, that’s truly significant.
