Voted Moore, but will be shocked if Franchot doesn't get the nomination. I just couldn't vote for Franchot. The man is a huge flip -flopper with no convictions of his own that I have ever been able to ascertain.

I'm a progressive and I voted for Franchot. We need good governance.

Why is excitement the goal here?

I should've said he doesn't inspire hope for progress/change/improvement.

FWIW, I'm the OP and I ended up voting for Moore.

His scandals are such non-scandals compared to what we've lived through the past six years that I can't seriously see a swing voter picking Cox over Moore based on character lol. In the end, it was his energy and climate focus that decided me.

Just a reminder - MD can't start opening and counting mail votes until 10am Thursday. There will likely be over 300K mail votes to count.

Today's results don't mean much, IMHO. The race is going to be close between the top 3. I think it may even go to a recount once all is said and done.

I haven't followed it. But I would also ask what Brooke Lierman wants to do, assuming she becomes Comptroller and is one of the three Board of Public Works members? Dereck Davis, the Treasurer?

I voted Franchot to avoid a Republican Governor. Any progressive Democratic nominee virtually ensures a Schulz win in November.

However, I'm not excited about Franchot, at all. It was a protest vote against well-meaning but poorly-implemented progressivism.

I disagree. I hope most Democrats would vote for any Democrat over a Republican at this point. I voted for Hogan years ago, because while I'm a Democrat I have always tried to vote for the best candidate. But nowadays my stance has changed. Right now I'm choosing between which I think is the best Democrat and I'm still kind of on the fence with Perez but I'm leaning that way. But whoever our nominee is, will be who I vote for in November. i'm basically playing the Republican card. That's what they do. So that's what I do

There are a ton of Blue Dog Democrats in Maryland. Always have been. Please don't take a Democratic win in November for granted. I agree that any Dem is better than a Republican at this point. For the same reason you do. But I certainly don't think most people feel that way. That's why I voted Franchot. I think he has the best chance to win the State.

And of course at the DNC he quite famously botched the Iowa Caucuses and then tried to blame it on the IA state Democratic party. Please don’t vote for him, Maryland doesn’t need more incompetence. Thanks.

+1000

Incredible he's gotten this far as a candidate. His record is abysmal.
