No HIIT or exercise that increases cortisol. Switch to pilates and walking to balance hormones.

You have to change.
You have to cut out alcohol and carbs, and extend your fasting window.

That, or learn to live with your new body. I've fallen somewhere between those two camps as I've gotten older - late 40s now. My weight gain also came in my late 30s/early 40s. I just can't see depriving myself of the pleasure of food for the rest of my life, to try to keep those five or seven pounds off, but I do make a real effort not to put on more than that. I'm sure my metabolism is having a good laugh about my arrogance, as I hit my 50s.

Enjoy your diabetes / cancer / heart disease / early death then. congratulations.

Morning: two cups of coffee (maybe three) w whole milk. Interval sprints/walking for three miles or 30min on the peloton.

12pm: salad w roasted veggies, homemade ceasar dressing, shredded cheese, maybe a hard boiled egg or tofu

6pm dinner: whatever the family is eating. Homemade fajitas(carbs, yes), grilled sausage and zucchini for example. Tonight we ordered sushi and I had sashimi, uni, and half a cali roll.

Literally that’s it. Of course is there are exceptions. 4th of July I had two slices of ice cream cake. I’m human. I guess I just have eaten like this for years and I have been 154 pounds and 5’7, a size 6. And now I woke up one day and I can’t naturally even our under 160 and sit around 164.

I see what I eat and I’m like, of course I can cut down the carbs to legitimately zero. And I will if I have to. It’s just such a reasonable way to eat IMO and it’s still not “enough”.

This is insane. I'm so tired of the eating disordered people who post here.

Agree. Plus the OP obviously does not eat like this every day or she would not be gaining. Fat gain/loss is the same at every age. You eat too much you gain, you eat below maintenance you lose. No rocket science. Obviously, OP, you have been eating more than you are burning so you gained. If you want to correct that, do the opposite. Download MyFitnessPal and start tracking every single thing you eat. It will be eye opening. Then make the changes you need to make to actually lose. And dont use age as an excuse. The only reason people have to eat less as they age to not gain fat, is that they move less and let their muscles atrophy. Age per se is not the driver. So do some strength training and add some walks and I assure you that in combination with a reasonable calorie intake you will lose the extra fat without any issue.

I don’t know. I feel like there really is a hormonal component for women. Perimenopause/ menopause is a tremendous change for the body.

Laws of thermodynamics still apply.
